a Network Security Engineer for the infrastructure domain within our Group Technology Department. 

Your impact. 

At Mediahuis, security is a top priority. To support our goals, we’ve launched a dedicated project group and are looking for a freelance Network Security Engineer.

You will be responsible for the design, deployment, and management of Guardicore segmentation policies to enforce zero-trust principles within our hybrid infrastructure. You will lead the implementation of microsegmentation strategies to minimize lateral movement and strengthen our network’s overall security posture. As the Guardicore lead, you will also liaise with both infrastructure and application owners to ensure proper visibility and policy alignment.

 Your role includes. 

• You will configure and secure network components (routers, switches, firewalls) to meet Mediahuis' operational needs and prevent internal and external threats.
• You will perform advanced troubleshooting and collaborate with teams to resolve issues, where you are responsible for implementing structural improvements to prevent recurring incidents.
• You will work closely with the infrastructure and security team to ensure continuity, reliability and security of the IT infrastructure, with focus on Guardicore.

With your analytical insight and your proactive approach, you have the ability to analyse complex technical problems and propose solutions and improvements. With your strong communication skills you are able to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Furthermore experience in the following skills would help you get up to speed quickly:

• Experience with Guardicore or similar solutions, and a solid understanding of zero-trust and microsegmentation.
• Skilled in network analysis and troubleshooting across complex environments.
• Understanding of hybrid IT environments (on-premises and cloud).

More specifically you will temporarily join the infrastructure  team, you will work closely with the security team and other IT domains to make sure that the goals listed for this year are achieved for the long run.
