You’ll deliver breaking news and in-depth journalism right into users’ hands. Do you obsess over performance, reliability, and pixel-perfect design? At Mediahuis, we’re on a mission to build the world’s most engaging news apps.
Your role includes.
- You’ll write idiomatic, well-tested Swift code (SwiftUI, Combine, NSURLSession, Codable)
- Integrate with our GraphQL and REST APIs for real-time news, comments, and multimedia content
- Build reusable UI components and custom animations to match our brand identity
- Debugging issues on multiple iOS versions and device form factors
- Participating in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives in an Agile environment
- Keep our codebase healthy and future proof, from code reviews and CI/CD pipelines to unit testing and modular architecture
What makes you a great fit?
In terms of technical expertise, we’re looking for someone who combines:
- 3+ years of professional iOS development experience
- Strong grasp of Swift 6 and Swift strict concurrency
- Protocol-Oriented Programming expertise
- Kotlin Multiplatform experience (optional)
Experience with unit/UI testing frameworks (XCTest, Quick/Nimble) and CI tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise)
What's about to become your second home?
Your team works from Antwerp, Amsterdam and Ukraine, so fluency in English is a must-have. Your base would be our Antwerp office, we expect you to collaborate with your colleagues and cross-domain teams on Mondays and Tuesdays. You are more than happy to travel to our Amsterdam colleagues, every 6 weeks. This assignment is until December 2025, with the possibility to extend in 2026.
What’s on your CV,
You have strong problem-solving skills, a proactive and pragmatic attitude, and a collaborative mindset. You also have affinity with machine learning workflows – you don’t need to be an ML expert, but you understand how to take a model from notebook to production.
